Hello and welcome! Whether this is your first time seeking a therapist or you are looking for a new therapist, choosing who you discuss personal issues with is not easy, especially during times of stress. I hope you find the following information helpful in your search.
I work with adult residents of Massachusetts. People who come to therapy with me should expect a supportive, respectful and collaborative space in our sessions. My approach is based on the idea that people have the ability and wisdom to discover solutions that will best fit their life and a non-judgmental space is an imperative component. I view my role as the therapist as being someone who helps you, like a guide, uncover and identify the solutions that will work best for you. Sessions involve listening to the issues that matter most to you, identifying your strengths and values, clarifying your goals, and increasing your motivation and confidence to pursue a life aligned with your values. We may also discuss and practice new strategies to manage the stressors you face in order to achieve better well-being.
My therapeutic style is informed by multiple evidence-based approaches including motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), strength-based, trauma informed practice, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR).
As a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) in the state of Massachusetts, I have over 18 years of experience working with adult patients and their support systems in medical healthcare settings as well as in my private practice. I trained and worked for over seven years at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA with adult oncology patients and their loved ones. In addition to my clinical work, I have supervised graduate level students during their internships and have led educational workshops for licensed mental health clinicians.
You may find my therapeutic approach beneficial if you are navigating issues around:
