Payment

Self-Pay

For clients who are self pay or I am considered out-of-network with your plan, payment is due at the time of your visit. Please note that I can send you a super bill, if needed, for reimbursement from your insurance company. It is important to note that not all insurance companies will provide reimbursement for out-of-network providers so I strongly encourage you to discuss this with your insurance provider before our initial session.

Some questions you can consider asking your insurance company are:

  • Does my health insurance plan include outpatient telehealth behavioral/mental health benefits?
  • Is Carrie Wechsler considered an out-of-network provider?
  • Do I have a co-pay or coinsurance for telehealth outpatient counseling/behavioral health services? What is it?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
  • How many behavioral/mental health sessions are approved for a calendar year? Have I met this limit?
  • Does my primary care physician need to make a referral/approve services for them to be covered or reimbursed?

Insurance

Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (PPO, HMO Blue) and Harvard Pilgrim

Some questions you can consider asking your insurance company are:

  • Is there a co-payment for outpatient telehealth behavioral/mental health services? How much is it?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
  • How many behavioral/mental health sessions are approved for a calendar year? Have I met this limit?

FEES

For clients with Aetna, BCBS and Harvard Pilgrim insurance, your insurance will be billed for the services I provide and you will be responsible for the co-payment, co-insurance or deductible determined by your particular plan. For self-pay clients, $175+/Hour is the fee for individual counseling sessions. Payment is due at the time of service. I ask that you provide credit card information to process self-pay, co-payment or deductible fees.

Good Faith Estimate

Good Faith Estimate (Under the No Surprises Act)

If you plan to pay out of pocket and NOT apply insurance benefits for counseling services, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for services.
• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like outpatient counseling services.
• You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit
